To research and develop a new innovative gown fit for maternal and neonatal clinical settings as opposed to current patient gowns, to prepare to test assumptions in regards to improved clinical outcomes and user feedback in trials post project.
This FemTech textile design innovation will be using expertise within textile/garment design, heritage industry and video filming production.
A Net Zero partnership post project, will ensure the reusable/recyclable gown will not contribute to the NHS's 88,000 tonnes of textile waste, sent to landfills each year - much of which could be recycled or reused if they were designed better.
With a background in Textile Design, Fashion and Midwifery, the innovation is both aesthetically considered and Midwife approved. The gown will be supporting UNICEF and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence/NICE guidelines for recommended immediate postnatal care, replacing 'patienthood' with parenthood.
