The Motion Activity Portal is a digital platform designed alongside care home staff and residents, by Motion Exercise CIC, that provides care home staff with a wide-range of meaningful activities and resources that can be used to engage residents in care homes in fun, engaging and interactive activities.
By understanding the barriers to adoption faced by care home staff and working with out partners at Centre for Behavioural Science and Applied Psychology (CeBSAP) at Sheffield Hallam University, we can use behavioural science to develop a platform that positively engages care home staff; in-turn motivating and rewarding them for facilitating activities with care home residents.
Regular, meaningful activities reduce the levels of sedentary behaviour within care homes, which reduces the chances of preventable death (Forster et al., 2017) and costs to the NHS, e.g. through preventing falls.
