SPARTA Biodiscovery is a UK-based analytical device SME working on the development of novel analytical tools for the product of next generation pharmaceuticals (nanomedicines). Finding better analytical tools is key to expedite the development, safety and efficacy of nanomedicines. The SPARTA benchtop instrument provides unique insights into both quality control and early-stage R&D by combining optical trapping and Raman spectroscopy to measure unique biochemical insights on a single particle basis. Work with the NPL is focussed on the development of this technology to enable additional insights on the physical characteristics of samples measured on SPARTA instrumentation to enable multi-parameter measurements from a single instrument. This is expected to expedite the discovery and quality control of next generation pharmaceuticals leading to additional novel nanomedicines reaching patients.
