The Wireless V2G for Fleets project, or 'V2Geasy' for short, is a collaboration between:
* Electric Green - Wireless charging experts
* QEnergy - V2G, smart energy management company and winner of an InnovateUK Phase1 V2G grant
* Royal Mail - The UKs largest last-mile delivery fleet operator.
The project will install wireless and plug-in charging infrastructure at Royal Mail's Kingston depot and convert 10 return-to-base delivery vehicles so they are wirelessly enabled and have bi-directional charging capability. The project will compare the available battery capacity with demand for additional power via the Distribution Network Operator (DNO). It will then quantify the commercial opportunities from participating in the flexibility markets based on the real world scenario.
The objective is to demonstrate that the convenience and enhanced safety aspects of wireless charging lead to higher participation rates/availability of vehicles for V2G use, and hence deliver greater, and significant, commercial returns for the fleet operator.
