The interior design industry contributes significantly to landfill waste, with the construction sector alone responsible for 25% of wood waste according to the source Wood Recyclers Association. This represents a pressing environmental issue that requires immediate and innovative solutions. Our project addresses this by delivering complete circularity and sustainability in the interior design of large corporate spaces, utilising waste materials as the primary resource. This results in a reduced carbon footprint, greater transparency, and works with key partners to showcase and leverage sustainable practices in the industry. BB Designs currently specialises in designing and building sustainable commercial interiors utilising environmentally friendly resources and furniture from waste wood, diverting it from landfill to create bespoke fit-out solutions. Our current product designs are intended to be reused, reutilised, and resold, ensuring they do not contribute to landfill. Having successfully completed commercial projects for SMEs, we will scale our impact by extending our services to larger corporations. This project is led by our co-founders, who are passionate about sustainable design and environmental stewardship. With a deep commitment to reducing waste and promoting sustainability, we believe every piece of waste can be transformed into something beautiful and functional. The core of our project involves providing a comprehensive interior design and build package for large corporate firms, using the most environmentally friendly resources, including waste materials sourced locally from the West Yorkshire region. This approach ensures that each project is as sustainable and regenerative as possible, minimising waste and promoting the reuse of materials. Our goal is to offer a competitively priced, sustainable alternative to traditional interior design practices that often rely on unsustainable materials and processes. Beyond our immediate project goals, we plan to collaborate with the waste industry and other partners to continue innovating and integrating technology to advance our efforts of circularity and traceability. This represents a complete transformation in the way waste is utilised as a resource. We will collaborate with the construction industry on a national level to reduce wood waste. Our innovative design process, take-back services, and supply chain experimentation create a truly circular and regenerative business model. By demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of sustainable interior design, we hope to inspire and collaborate with other businesses to adopt similar practices, setting a new benchmark and fostering a broader cultural shift towards sustainability in commercial fitout.
