Across the UK and internationally, demand for high-quality, timely, and personalised career guidance is rising - yet the number of trained careers advisers is not keeping pace. Young people and adults alike are navigating a rapidly changing education and labour market landscape, often without the support they need to make informed career decisions. Rising youth unemployment, increasing economic insecurity, and mounting concerns about mental health and wellbeing are compounding this challenge, particularly for those facing disadvantage or transition. Originally developed as a set of structured conversation flows with embedded AI ChatGPT and guardrails, introduced by this start up company in 2024, _CiCi_ the curated careers chatbot was designed to augment careers services by offering 24:7 career exploration support, with an inbuilt warm handover to a human adviser. This project now aims to take a major step forward - **transforming CiCi into a fully AI-first service**: a trusted, intelligent, and always-available digital careers support companion capable of delivering high-quality information, advice and guidance at scale. An AI-first CiCi will not just respond to users but proactively support them - guiding decision-making, enhancing self-awareness, and navigating complex education, employment and enterprise pathways. Using cutting-edge natural language processing, CiCi will offer free text conversational support that is highly personalised and less scripted. Whether helping a school leaver explore post-16 options or an adult upskilling or re-entering the workforce, CiCi will adapt to individual needs, context, and goals. The transformation will focus on five key pillars: 1. **Conversational Design** -- Redesigning CiCi as a natural-language-led interface for richer, highly personalised multi-step interactions. 2. **Personalised Guidance** -- Delivering tailored content and recommendations based on user data, preferences, and trustworthy labour market insights. 3. **Equity and Access** -- Ensuring underserved and hard-to-reach users can access consistent support regardless of location, background, or time of day. 4. **Human-AI Synergy** -- Enhancing, not replacing, the work of qualified advisers through referral mechanisms and seamless integration with live services. 5. **Continuous Improvement** -- Embedding feedback loops and ethical safeguards to ensure CiCi evolves responsibly and remains aligned with user and service priorities. This game-changing intervention will drive development of a trusted, responsible AI/ML solution, ensuring users can rely on AI-powered careers advice with confidence and integrity.
