This project aims to support the U.K. farming industry in its quest to be Carbon neutral by creating a biogenic fertiliser which acts as a Carbon negative soil improver, sequestering Carbon and reducing absolute levels of CO2\. The key ingredient of the fertiliser is Biochar, an extremely stable form of Carbon created utilising a technology called slow pyrolysis. This is mixed with other agricultural residues such as Urine. Using agricultural residues in this way, rather than burning them in a biomass energy plant, will significantly reduce the farming sector's CO2 emissions and accelerate its move towards the objective of net-zero farming, improve soil health and potentially increasing agricultural yields. This proposal does not compete with land used for food production, rather it compliments that system by maximising the value from agricultural residues in a Carbon negative process resulting in Carbon Sequestration. This is in line with U.K. Government objectives of net-zero and IPCC 2019 recommendations to undertake carbon sequestration as a means of keeping climate warming below 20 degrees C by 2050\. This project seeks funding to undertake feasibility works including: * an independently verified Life Cycle Analysis on the proposed slow pyrolysis process * Independent laboratory tests around: Flow dynamics Biochar chemical characterisation Soil & crop effects * Field studies to demonstrate the performance of our bespoke Biogenic fertiliser.
