Public Funding for Micromobility Partners Limited

Electric scooters are being trialed in a number of UK cities through public hire schemes. These schemes are generally commissioned through local authorities, with private companies operating the schemes on their behalf. The length of the trials has recently been extended to May 2024 as the DfT have identified of a number of issues which require further testing. Some of these issues relate to the safety of e-scooter riders and the wider public, requiring novel solutions prior to widespread adoption of e-scooters. The project team, through existing relationships with commissioners and operators, has a good understanding of the issues. This project is intended to bring design thinking approaches to the issues identified and thereby lead to new products and services.
