Public Funding for Crane Innovation Limited

The over 55s are almost a third of the population, however, there are almost no virtual experiences targeting this age group with the implicit assumption that innovative technology is not for the old. This project challenges this view. It will demonstrate how spatial computing, an emerging technology that creates virtual layers experienced through a headset, can provide enjoyable, tailored experiences for the over 55s. A key desire for many over 55s is to get together for shared experiences. We are creating experiences where people sense that they are together, technologies enabling users to feel proximity with one another in these new virtual layers. The project will develop an app, _Best Box at the Performance_, for the over 55s to attend events or performances with one another. This app will demonstrate how we can enable people to feel that they are with others and why spatial computing provides a compelling way to experience performances for this group. Through user testing with the over 55s, listening to their requirements and responding to them, this project will provide a tailored, enjoyable app and will demonstrate to other content creators the potential of the over 55 market.
