UK-based fintech SME Finome is led by a project team of Viacheslav Lavrentyev (project lead) and Oleksii Banasevych (technical lead). Within private capital markets, productivity and efficiency are low, in part due to reliance on Microsoft Excel. Investment professionals are spending hours every day on manual and error-prone work with financial models, which, across the industry, implies multi-billion-pound spend. Such reliance on Excel is precarious, as just one small mistake can lead to catastrophic losses for investors. Low productivity also contributes to deteriorating employee well-being, with many investment professionals considering leaving the industry to avoid burnout. The continued lack of modern, advanced software tools for investment analysis inevitably leads to insufficient risk assessment, missed investment opportunities, and, therefore, lower returns to investors. Finome has noted these challenges and is developing StareCase, analytics and visualisation software for investment professionals that will speed up work in Excel by 2-3x. StareCase will enable firms participating in private capital markets to dramatically increase the productivity of their investment teams, saving 30-40 workdays per user annually. The long-overdue digitisation of currently manual workflows will also improve employee well-being. Finome's mission is to boost the value for money UK pension scheme members get for private capital management services. This directly aligns with the critical objective of the Mansion House Compact, which is increasing the public's return from private markets.
