RobQuant is developing a next-generation imaging sensor that is wearable, scalable, and safe. Current quantum sensor technology used in magnetoencephalography (MEG), which measures magnetic fields produced by brain activity, is large, expensive, and requires shielded rooms, limiting its use to a few specialist centres. Our project is building a new type of quantum sensor using diamond technology that is small enough to be embedded in comfortable, wearable fabric. Our unique, patent-pending design integrates all the necessary optical components into a tiny, solid-state chip. This makes the sensor highly efficient and removes the need for hazardous high-power lasers, a major hurdle for current systems. The successful development of this prototype will be a critical step towards creating a commercially viable, high-density MEG and other quantum sensing systems. This will make advanced brain imaging more accessible for diagnosing and understanding neurological conditions like epilepsy and Alzheimer's, with the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes and advance medical research. Currently these conditions take eighteen months to diagnose. Imagine being able to monitor your health in a non-invasive way in the comfort of your own home!
