Fab Materials is pioneering a novel approach to fashion recycling: turning textiles into beautiful furniture. We utilise the excellent properties of textile fibers to replace the wood fiber in Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF). We are on a mission to eliminate hundreds of thousands of tonnes of fashion waste from incineration and landfill in the UK, and to prevent exporting and dumping in emerging economies, as is the case today. Additionally, we are mitigating deforestation by replacing an extractive supply-chain with a circular supply-chain whilst also addressing the growing demand for furniture. We utilise a unique board making process that converts mixed fashion waste into high performance boards. We will use these boards to make premium furniture targeting sustainable kitchen units as our first major market. Scaling up by creating beautiful new products with UK joinery specialists, our solution can scale from one kitchen to millions of tonnes of materials globally. Our vision is to eliminate global fashion waste and create a new source of furniture material that addresses deforestation while creating amazing furniture.
