**Do you use a shared digital device and how often do you sanitise it?** I put this question to medical staff and found that many did not sanitise their devices regularly, 60% of responses indicated this was primarily due to the lack of education and time restrictions to complete additional processes of existing solutions. Additionally, I was concerned to find out that **only 38% of medical staff felt comfortable using shared non-clinical devices** and wanted to do something about it. As a result, I have developed a device sanitisation indicator for non-clinical digital devices which when paired with improved education, the risk of bacterial transfer to patients and fellow staff could be significantly reduced. Through extensive interviews with medical and industry professionals, I recognised the need for a solution and utilised smart material technology to create the indicator. A simple wipe with an antibacterial cloth triggers the indicator to transform from white to transparent, revealing an underlying graphic. This visual cue serves as a reminder to sanitise the device or fills confidence in other staff members if the graphic is visible. Indicators are reusable for up-to 150 times and at the end of life, can be recycled amongst other recyclable waste. Sanera Innovations is committed to creating sustainable, innovative solutions through a holistic approach and provide a cleaner future for all generations. Without the use of electronics, maintenance or specialist training, the reusable indicators provide a unique, cost-effective method of reducing bacterial transfer. Indicators are produced in two sizes, a 'dot' design for all devices and a 'strip' design for keyboards and tablets. Both designs can be used in conjunction to create a cleaning perimeter and help staff visualise the correct cleaning pattern -- 'top to bottom, left to right'. Recognising the importance of education and the significance of good hygiene practices, each unit comes with informative resources, including engaging demonstrative videos and informative, eye-catching digital posters and screensavers. This is all neatly shipped into an easy-to-use dispensing box made from FSC-approved materials, built to last and easily refillable. The product seamlessly integrates hygiene, efficiency, and education while introducing a new level of functionality to the market. Praise for the product has come from various medical professionals, with one ophthalmologist describing it as 'visual, satisfying and slick'. A medical professionals also emphasised the lack of similar solutions internationally and the potential advantage of the indicator in improving device hygiene.
