The UK construction industry employs over 2.1 million people and contributes £116bn annually, accounting for around 6% of UK GDP. Yet it continues to face challenges with cash flow management, profit margins, and productivity, making it one of the most unstable sectors. Productivity in the sector lags 33% behind the national average, with the slow adoption of automation and artificial intelligence (AI) identified as key factors limiting efficiency. Boosting productivity in line with the national average will deliver savings of £15bn every year. The sector spends £1.03bn in legal services annually, with property and construction disputes accounting for 25% of all legal cases. However, the traditional management of legal and administrative tasks and disputes are time-consuming and costly, leading to cash flow difficulties, delays, downtimes, and reduced operational efficiency. Go Legal Ai is the first direct-to-consumer, community-driven legal tech platform led by construction lawyer, Karim Oualnan, in collaboration with Oxford University that will boost productivity and increase financial health in the sector through AI and on-demand customisable solutions. The innovative platform will use proprietary trustworthy AI and large language models pre-trained by expert lawyers. In addition, key stakeholders and regulatory bodies will be engaged during the feasibility study of the project. Appropriate cybersecurity levels will be embedded in the platform to ensure the necessary data privacy for all the platform users. The project supports several key UK government objectives aimed at using AI to enhance productivity and financial health in the sector.
