FlexiFone aims to improve mobile network coverage across the UK by offering a multi-network mobile service. Customers can simultaneously connect to and can automatically switch between EE, O2, Vodafone & Three, based on the operator with the best coverage in their location. This is achieved by offering a software (app) and a hardware solution. The entire solution is powered by eSIMs which means that customers can get connected to our service within 60 seconds by just downloading the app.
The solution has the potential to reduce no-spots and improve network coverage in dense city centers, countryside, and in trains and moving vehicles on the motorway. The principle of working behind this technology is Cellular Bonding and Cellular Switching, where multiple channels are bonded (combined) together to improve coverage. In the event of one network having poor signal or bandwidth, the internet traffic (or data packets) are routed over the other networks instantly within milliseconds, with no internet connectivity drops. You can imagine traveling in a train and experiencing no drop in connectivity during VOIP calls or streaming.
The project will directly contribute to delivering net-zero in telecoms, as FlexiFone would improve mobile network coverage without the need to deploy any additional telecom infrastructure, thus saving cost, energy and time. Especially in rural areas and the countryisde, the existing infrastructure that has been deployed by various mobile network operators can be used.
Cellular bonding and Cellular switching technologies have been used for decades in enterprise applications like video streaming from remote locations and IoT, but FlexiFone aims to bring this to the end consumer by making it more accessable and affordable.
