Quality Tailored Homes (QTH) recognise that clients require unique builds that provide best value for money. This has led us to develop an innovative bronze, silver, gold package system for each house, so that clients can balance cost, style and layout to suit their needs. In the past this has been focused on room layout, fixtures and fittings but QTH has recognised the increased demand from clients for energy efficient buildings. In order to keep our competitive position in the market we require detailed knowledge of the performance of our existing housing stock, areas that requires improvements in terms of design, performance of building materials used and future building standards. Optimisation of the build fabric with the help of building energy modelling, identification of common defects such as thermal bridging and moisture ingress will help us to refine our design/construction process. Furthermore, any alteration to the conventional design should be presented in terms of the improved payback period, energy sustainability and whole life value. It is hoped that this voucher would be the first step in allowing QTH to initiate a larger R&D programme to gather in situ long term data from our buildings using sensor technology and work with a technology provider to compare the predicted building performance to the actual building performance."
