VascuTele Ltd is pioneering the development of an AI-enhanced robotics platform for thrombectomy. This project, part of the 'New Innovators in Life and Health Sciences' initiative in Northern Ireland, focuses on refining an early-stage prototype into a trial-ready medical device over a six-month period starting October 2024\.
Stroke is a leading cause of disability, where timely and precise thrombectomy can significantly improve outcomes. Current challenges include a scarcity of specialists and the complex nature of the procedure. Our solution integrates cutting-edge AI with robotic technology to streamline thrombectomy, enhancing its precision and accessibility, and reducing reliance on specialist skills.
Key project activities include hardware upgrades, development of reinforcement learning models, and extensive in vitro testing using 3D-printed vascular models. These efforts will enhance our research and development capabilities, contributing to Northern Ireland's position as a hub for medical technology innovation.
Post-project, our goals are regulatory approval and commercialisation, supporting the UK government's Levelling Up goals by fostering economic growth and creating high-value jobs in the region. Our platform aims to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce costs, and expand access to critical stroke treatments, leveraging environmentally responsible practices throughout the development process.
VascuTele is set to transform the landscape of stroke treatment by making advanced care more widely available and efficient, positioning Northern Ireland at the forefront of global medical technology innovation.
