"**Productivity is a critical factor for the UK economy** -- especially in the construction industry. . As stated in the Farmer Review of the Construction Industry, we need to ""modernise or die"", and this is recognised by the Construction Sector Deal. While offsite manufacturing techniques improve both quality and productivity, a step change is needed to realise the true potential of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA). That step change is product-based design solutions and manufacturing capacity that unlocks optimised construction and extends efficiency throughout the delivery cycle. We call this **Product Based Building Solution (PBBS) DfMA 70:60:30** -- with 70% of the building being premanufactured, providing 60% greater productivity and 30% faster construction than traditional approaches. The potential improvements to productivity are enormous, with only a small team of skilled technicians needed to place and integrate the pre-manufactured and quality controlled building components. The key to realising this potential lies in having good products and approaching the early design process with product-based solutions in mind, rather than trying to apply them as an after-thought. As such, Laing O'Rourke, AMRC, Hoare Lea, Autodesk, Project Frog, BRE, ActivePlan, Dynamic Knowledge, Converge, University of Cambridge have aligned to demonstrate this product-based approach to design and construction -- an approach that could radically change the industry. By creating a product-based approach to buildings, we have the potential to transform site construction to a place of assembly of pre-engineered and certified building products. Together, we will: * Evidence **lower carbon lifecycles, targeting a 30% operational reduction** -- based on integrating heating and cooling systems within the structure -- and a **50% saving in embodied carbon** through a reusable structural system with predicable performance through smart commissioning and better science. * Demonstrate **productivity improvements in each delivery phase** -- design, manufacture and assembly -- through physically and digitally enabled process efficiency and waste elimination. * Use a product-based architecture with defined and repeatable interfaces to provide quality and certainty in delivery. This will include **facades, frame, internal walls and finishes, pods, and building services and controls**. This will enable: * **Digital demonstration** of configuration to products sets to a range of sector applications using real-world building examples * **Physical demonstration** of integrated product-based building solutions at full scale for a representative building at Explore Industrial Park * **Evidence of productivity and performance** assurance metrics and benchmarking to support further scaling up and adoption"

Digital Twins offer a compelling opportunity to improve the life-time efficiency of assets and systems enabling flexibility in design, up-front risk minimisation and in-use performance enhancement through techniques such as predictive analytics and machine learning. A number of critical gaps exist that currently prevent the wide-spread use and adoption of digital twins in game-changing contexts such as large-scale infrastructure systems or within the enterprise. With applications at scale currently out of reach, many strategic, cost, efficiency, operational performance and risk management benefits are not being realised. The UK has the opportunity to lead this disruptive sector, exploiting emerging technology from our world-class research base. The research identified within this project enables the rapid calibration and validation of large-scale Digital Twin models across a range of contexts. Our project uses these game-changing, disruptive approaches and access to large-scale, real-time data sets to create a new "System of Intelligence" capable of rapidly calibrating and validating real-world models, delivering incredible levels of efficiency, productivity and insights. This System of Intelligence will enable vast improvements to predictive capability over both a strategic and operational time-horizon with applications in any situation where advanced mathematical modelling is required. It will therefore put advanced mathematical modelling into the hands of those who need it when they need it vastly reducing the need for complicated design and calibration. The system will enable us to learn more about critical feedback loops, developing models that are more accurate and more dynamic. This system will provide a globally game-changing proposition within Enterprise software applications, as well as revolutionising the way we model infrastructure systems, supply chains and manufacturing environments driving radical improvements to productivity. As such it will propel the UK and the consortium to a position of global leadership within this fast-growing new market, anchor critical IP within the UK and create significant additionality, including 795 new jobs by 2023\.

SEaB Energy’s patented containerised Micro Anaerobic Digestion System, FLEXIBUSTER(TM) will be deployed into a hospital environment where it will convert food waste and septic waste to electricity. The system output will be supplemented by a Solar Photovoltaic Array, provided by TH White Installations and used to charge a MASLOW Energy Storage System, from Moixa Technology, which has the capability to store the energy generated to balance electricity supply and demand; and to provide a back-up power supply to the hospital. System integration and planning will be provided by Hoare Lea and Partners.
