Livestock industries are key to UK food production and security. Disease causes significant loss to these sectors and can impact human health. We seek to evaluate alternative approaches to post-mortem examinations in instances where they are not routinely undertaken, to allow more frequent and cost effective examination of unexpected deaths, and rapid action at farm level to safeguard the health and welfare of the remaining animals, contributing to the country’s food security.
