The goal of this project is to provide the capability of securely instant issuing standard Integrated Chip Card (ICC) cards from kiosks, directly to the requesting customer, with no human in the loop, in real time.
Normal ICC cards are produced in a secure location and are then distributed to customers along with PINs via a conventional postal fulfilment process that is a relatively inflexible and costly process.
The industry is evolving to be able to issue cards by employees working in bank branches.
These kiosks, which may be placed in non-secure environments, can nonetheless be considered secure as a result of the kiosk design and the secure communication objectives of this project.
This project will be approved by card schemes and issuing banks and fully approved for Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security compliance, which will diferentiate it from gift card type offerings.
The project is made up of three activities; - creating a highly secure kiosk hardware platform that will pass scrutiny by banking and security organisations; - creating a secure communication architecture that will pass scrutiny by banking and security organisations; - creating a front and back end software suite to manage card issuance and interface with existing banking architecture.
The end goal is to gain sign off for a roll out of kiosks with real banking customers.
