An Exoskeleton Robotic Glove for Hand Mobility Assessment and Rehabilitation.
Bioliberty are developing the next generation of rehabilitative devices using novel robotics and advanced digital signal processing. This project focuses on the development of an assessment and rehabilitation solution that can be used at-home, giving patients access to high frequency, high intensity, rehabilitation which otherwise cannot be completed outside of a clinic. This will improve patient access to rehab and in-turn lead to improved patient outcomes. Occupational therapists will be able to monitor patients remotely. The data captured by this device has been described as revolutionary by a key expert in the field. The first target segment will be patients who have experienced hand trauma and stroke.
The technology is based on novel robotic actuators with embedded sensors which can measure force, range of motion and rehabilitate the hand. This project will focus on the development of hardware, firmware, data science and software, to create an assessment tool to transform the hand rehabilitation market, leading to better patient care and improved clinic services. With the support from Innovate UK we will improve the outcomes of people who have had a stroke or hand trauma.
