Just Transitions is a newly-established Community Interest Company dedicated to empowering underrepresented communities, charities, social enterprises, and educational institutions in their transition to net zero. We focus on providing bespoke educational programmes, training, and consultancy services tailored to the unique needs and objectives of each organisation we work with. According to a Yougov poll, 74% of UK citizens believe that education on environmental sustainability should be curriculum requirement. We agree. The aim is to bridge the gap between aspirations and actions, enabling communities to be proactive contributors to the net zero movement, rather than passive participants. **Why We're Unique** A study from Friends of the Earth showed that the poorest communities in the UK are often the most impacted by climate change but the least equipped to adapt. Our innovative approach lies in our commitment to co-creation and flexibility. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all model, we engage directly with our clients to design learning experiences that are both relevant and adaptable, allowing for either formal accreditation or informal learning. Our team brings a wealth of expertise in developing and delivering both accredited and non-accredited training programmes, as well as creating engaging e-learning experiences. **Start-up Phase and Funding** As a brand-new social enterprise, we are seeking funding to cover the typical start-up costs including operational expenses, marketing and technology. Importantly, we are also keen to secure mentoring support to ensure we get off to the strongest possible start. The funding will be instrumental in allowing us to build a sustainable model that can have a long-lasting impact on the communities and organisations we aim to serve. **Impact and Outcomes** The anticipated impact of our work is multi-fold. Firstly, it will empower underrepresented communities to take ownership of their journey towards a more sustainable and socially just future. Secondly, it will provide charities and social enterprises with the tools and knowledge they need to become more environmentally responsible. Finally, educational institutions will benefit from support to embed net zero topics within their curriculum as well as learn how to support their institutions to transition to net zero. By obtaining the necessary funding and mentoring support, Just Transitions aims to set a new standard in community-centered, sustainable education and consultancy services. We aspire to create a ripple effect, where the individuals and organisations we assist become catalysts for change in their own communities, contributing to a collective movement toward a net zero future.
