LastingAsset is developing an innovative solution to address the growing problem of impersonation and impostor fraud in voice communications. Attackers pose as representatives from legitimate businesses, manipulate caller ID information, and deceive victims into sharing sensitive information or making fraudulent payments. The emergence of AI and voice cloning technologies further complicates the identification of legitimate communications. Our project aims to create a secure and trustworthy environment for businesses and individuals to communicate with confidence, knowing that the person on the other end of the line is who they claim to be. LastingAsset, a spinout from Edinburgh Napier University's cryptography and cybersecurity lab, has built an innovative solution to stop impersonation fraud in person-to-person communication. This project extends our offering to secure business-to-customer communication and intra-organisation communication and verification. LastingAsset's solution enables real-time identity verification during voice and video calls. This ground breaking approach eliminates the need for reliance on outdated databases and ineffective spam blockers, which have failed to keep pace with the increasingly sophisticated tactics employed by fraudsters. This initiative is not just about securing communications; it's about restoring trust in our interconnected world. By integrating our solution with existing business infrastructures, we aim to provide a seamless, secure communication channel that is resistant to the sophisticated tactics employed by scammers, including voice cloning and social engineering attacks. By minimising disruption to established processes, we facilitate swift adoption and empower businesses to protect their employees, customers, and reputation without undertaking extensive overhauls of their systems. Our solution for enterprises builds on our existing offering for peer-to-peer authentication. Recognising the growing threat of voice cloning and AI-powered impersonation in personal contexts, our technology allows individuals to verify the identity of callers within their close networks, such as family members and colleagues.
