Optical Microscopy has underpinned almost every major life-science discovery or biomedical development for the last 100 years. However, the latest advanced microscopy methods and technologies that could drive forward the groundbreaking bio-science discoveries of tomorrow are only available to the most well-funded of academic research groups or life-science industrial companies. These instruments typically cost £250k - £750k, require dedicated experts and specialized lab space or require time consuming and stringent specimen preparation. At Northern Light Microscopy (NLM), we have leveraged our 20 years of experience in microscopy development and application along with £110k of commercialization specific grant funding to develop our patent pending solution which aims to democratize advanced microscopy methods. We are developing a benchtop advanced microscopy platform which costs up to 10 times less than current systems, at 24 x 27 cm can be operated from any standard life-science lab bench and allows users to extract twice as much information from their specimens with no change in protocol.
