News Imperagen awarded £291k by Innovate UK

Based in Manchester Science Park (spun out from the University of Manchester), Imperagen (founded in 2021) has been awarded £291,481.00 from Innovate UK for their project Developing a breakthrough technology needed to bring ultra-fast enzyme engineering to market under the Responsive funding sector. The project will run between the 1st of July 2023 to 30th June 2024; the funding appears to cover all the costs for the project.

• Imperagen is developing an enzyme engineering platform to rapidly re-engineer enzymes for existing chemical engineering processes.
• They believe enzymes can be used to replace complex industry chemical processes
• Applied in context, enzymes act as biocatalysts to create and change chemicals and materials
• The tech + platform will reduce development time of enzymes from months to weeks
• This platform will open up new commercial opportunities in multiple high value market sections.
