News Oxford Lasers Funded for Laser Drilling

Oxford Lasers Limited have secured £299,568 (for costs of £499,281) of public funding under the UK’s Responsive initiative. Founded in 1977, they are based in South East England and plan to deploy the funding to support their PITCH project - this one is pushing the boundaries of acronymns, though:

(PITCH) advanced PackagIng Test probe Card laser microHoles

Probecards sit between an electronic test system and semiconductor wafer (think chip fabbing/testing). As the node size of chips gets smaller, the probecards need to support the reduced sizes and PITCH aims to deliver ultra high precision laser drilling to accurately create the next gen of probecards
